Tips and Tricks to Improve Dog Behavior Training
There are several different things that dogs need to learn in any dog behavior training. In addition to house training, there is bite and bark control, leash training, crate training, and other issues such as excessive or excitement urination, along with teaching them to stop whining. Here are some tips and tricks to help you improve your dog behavior training technique.
House breaking a puppy is a laborious task that many do not look forward to, but actually does not take as much as many people would think. Defining an area for papers where the puppy can go, and taking him or her outside at regular time periods while watching for cues is a major key to house breaking. Ensure that the puppy is positively rewarded and never negatively punished for the effort.
Leash training a puppy is very important when it comes to walking and exercising the puppy. Leash training will take time and practice, but you need to quickly assert that you are the one in control. Anytime the puppy behaves less than the way you want, gently tug at the leash and say a command of your choice. This will help with socialization in the long run.
For crate training, it is important that the puppy love the area, and not feel it to be a punishment. The fact is that many puppies need to be crate trained until they can be trusted out in the open when you are not home to monitor their activities. Make sure to have the area full of his or her toys, food, and water. This area should be a place the puppy can treat as an escape from the human family, rather than a prison.
When a dog whines, it is perhaps one of the most annoying sounds for a human. Teaching a dog to control this will help for a better, happier, coexistence as the dog ages. It is a problem that needs to be addressed quickly and handled firmly. Trust the dog to be alone and quiet for short periods of time and reward this before leaving him or her alone for any extended period of time. This is because the whining generally is a result of being away from the family.
To stop issues with excitement urination, you’ll want to stop the dog from being overly excited in the first place by continually exposing him or her to things that excite them until they no longer excite them to that point. If you do not and become angry, it will turn into submissive urination, just another issue you’ll have to deal with.
Whining is something dogs love to do and their owners hate to hear. It is usually the result of separation anxiety from the family and his or her loved ones. The way to combat this is to train your dog to be left alone and quiet for short periods of time before leaving them alone for a longer period of time.
Many people decide not to get a dog because the dog behavior training seems to be overwhelming for them and they do not believe they have the time or the patience to deal with it. The fact is that as long as you are willing to take the time to focus and love on the dog as you are working on the behavior training”many dogs grow up and train with ease. Obedience school may help you with these issues, but it will not take the place of your dog behavior training at home.
