How to Train Your Beagle Dog

Everyone loves Beagles. They are great and energetic dogs. They are playful, obedient, and love the outdoors. Training them though is a hard process. Beagles are stubborn and fiercely independent animals. If you don’t train them the right way, bad habits will set in and you will never get them to follow your command.

If you want to train a Beagle in the best way then this is what you need to possess: you’ll need a lot of endurance for training it. Don’t give up too easily once you decide to training your Beagle. You need to exude plenty of dedication when training your Beagle.

Beagles are natural hunting dogs and thus gets distracted effortlessly, all set to run from one place to another for no reason at all. If they smell something new or hear something they will go and run off to find out what it is. Focus on converting the limitless energy in your Beagle into a constructive kind instead. Thus, you must take it for extended walks. Also remember to take it for a swim or a hike. If you don’t use up a beagle’s energy, it will run around your house and cause a lot of trouble.

When a Beagle doesn’t exercise to make use of its energy, then it goes wild and destroys whatever it can find indoors. It can keep on chewing or digging objects. Always assert yourself when you are with your pet Beagle. Remember this because a Beagle always responds much better to a person who’s in total command of the situation. Don’t wait till your Beagle is old to start your training program.

If you wait to train it until it is older it will have become set in its way with too many bad habits. You can start your Beagle’s training from the age of eight weeks. Start with all the basic commands like stand, sit, down, heel. Once it is responding to all the basic commands, it shows that you are succeeding at your training attempt. You then need to go to the next level of training - continue with the commands which you have planned for your Beagle at the next stage.

A Beagle is a pack animal - it always loves to be in a group. Thus they will always look forward to being with others. Never try to keep a Beagle alone for long periods of time. This will make them angry and lazy. It’s also not good for their health as they tend to put on unwanted extra weight on their bodies. Following all these tips will have your beagle trained in no time at all.
