Make Your Own Case For Glasses
A fun craft idea for kids

Home And Family

With Christmas approaching at a rapid rate it might be time to let the kids start in on some homemade craft ideas. The first in this series craft ideas for kids articles is for a case for glasses (or it could be a necklace purse if the child decides they want to keep the craft for themselve to store their important and secret things)

What you need to make the case for glasses:

A square of craft foam, (and other coloured, decorative or shaped foam if required)
You may want glitter, stars, beads and other ways to add decoration as well
Thick yarn or a laynard
Plastic or large blunt needles
Hole Punch
Craft glue if required

How to make:

Cut two rectangles from the foam (each 3 1/2 by 6 inches).
WIth a hole punch, punch holes on three side of each rectangle (leave one short side unpunched) Try to make the holes about about 1/2 an inch aprat and allow at least 1/4 inch between the last hold and the edge of the foam. The holes on each rectangle need to line up so they can be laced together.

Once this is done you can decorate each foam rectangle however you want: using foam shapes, glitter or beads etc.

The next step is to join the two rectangles together, using the yarn (which is often easier) simply thread it through the holes made with the hole punch. If you want to uses this craft as a necklace purse use a lanyard and loop through or attach at each open corner.

After the three sides are sewn together you now have a decorative spectacle case or purse to keep for yourself or give as a gift.
